Modoc Middle School

Today MMS students were treated to a performance by Ballet Folklorico Raices Mexicanas de MV, from Stockton, California. Ballet Folklorico is Mexican folk dance which celebrates Mexican identity, history, and mestizaje (cultural blending). It preserves folklore while making it accessible and entertaining on stage. This is important for our middle school students because it broadens their cultural awareness, fosters appreciation for Mexico’s rich history and regional diversity, and helps them understand how indigenous, Spanish, and African traditions have blended into a vibrant national identity. It was a great way to end our week!
