Today, Modoc Middle School students in Alturas, CA, were treated to an energetic and inspiring performance by Mr. Blue Shoes!
Michael Dyson, the Grammy Award-winning musician behind Mr. Blue Shoes, brought his signature interactive show—complete with live music, storytelling, humor, and audience participation—to our Warriors. Students learned about America's rich musical heritage, from its historical roots to influences on modern genres like rock, hip-hop, country, and pop, all while clapping, singing, dancing, and even joining in on stage. The high-energy 45-minute assembly ended with a calming breathing exercise to help everyone return to class focused and ready to learn.
This exciting cultural event was made possible thanks to California Proposition 28 Arts and Music in Schools funding, which helps provide vital arts education opportunities for our rural students. Modoc Middle School is committed to exposing our kids to positive, enriching arts and music experiences that spark creativity, build cultural appreciation, and connect learning across subjects like social studies, language arts, and more.
