As our weather begins to improve and warm up, I just wanted to remind everyone regarding students wearing shorts. The board approved MMS dress code states that shorts must be "mid-thigh" in length or longer. However, our staff will use some discretion in interpreting this rule with our female students as current styles tend to run to the short side and it can be difficult to find longer fitting shorts. Rips in pants/shorts/skirts must also follow the mid-thigh rule. Students whose shorts are excessively short will be asked to call home for an alternate outfit. These rules are in place to prepare students for expectations of proper dress in the workforce, so thank you for helping us in this effort. As always, please call if you have any questions.
Spring Picture Day is April 16th. (Only students who have returned order forms will have their photo taken - extra forms are available in the office.)
Good afternoon MMS Families, Starting April 22 our students will be beginning state testing. This is an important opportunity for them to show all that they have learned so far this year and for all of us to see where your child might need more support. Of course, we would like everyone to put their best foot forward. Having a nutritious breakfast and getting enough sleep are important ways you can support your student in this undertaking. Also, it would help us a great deal if you could have conversations with your students' at home on the importance of these tests and showing what they know. An 8th grade parent meeting will be held on Monday, March 4 at 5:45pm in the MMS Library to go over plans for the 8th grade promotion party. All 8th grade parents are invited to attend and help plan this important celebration.

MMS will be holding a Holiday Dance on Wednesday, December 20, from 6-8pm. The dance is for eligible MMS student only, and the cost is $ 5 at the door. Please note the dance is on a Wednesday, not our usual Friday. Come join in the winter fun!

Tomorrow is Halloween. If your student wishes to wear a costume tomorrow, please remember that all MMS dress code requirements will still apply. In addition students may not wear masks or anything that obscures the student's face, and may not bring props or items that disrupt the school environment. Inflatable costumes will also not be allowed. In short, anything that disrupts learning will not be allowed and students will be asked to call home for appropriate attire. We're not trying to stop fun, we just want to assure a safe and productive day at school. Please call if you have any questions.
This Friday, October 13, the MMS Leadership class and Rotary Interact Club will be sponsoring their Purple Pinky Dance. The dance will be held from 6 - 8pm at the MMS Gym. Proceeds will be donated to the Rotary Purple Pinky fundraiser to continue the fight against Polio. The dance is open to eligible MMS students only. See you there!
